FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: “NIGHT WATER” WRITER’S PEACOCK PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION EXCEEDS SIX MONTH MARK

NEW YORK—Newsletter writer Adam Cecil announced today that his monthly subscription to Peacock Premium, the American streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, had been renewed for a sixth month. Cecil had announced in early February that he would cancel the subscription, which was intended to allow access to NBC’s Olympics coverage, in early March once the international games were over.

“I keep forgetting,” says Cecil. “And when the email comes in saying the subscription renewed, I think, I should really cancel that.” Cecil almost canceled Peacock Premium when he realized they had discontinued the live channel of Unsolved Mysteries reruns. “But I tweeted about it instead.”

Since the Olympics ended, Cecil has primarily used the service to watch The Office, despite stating in February that he did not need Peacock to watch The Office. “Comedy Central only shows like the same four seasons over and over again. There’s only so many times you can watch Michael Scott lose a basketball game or spit in Dwight’s mouth.”

Cecil still intends to cancel the Peacock Premium subscription sometime this year. “My wife just got into Below Deck and I think there’s a season that’s just on Peacock, so maybe we should watch that before I cancel.”

Cuts have already been made to the household streaming budget in the months since Peacock Premium joined the collection. Disney+, now offered in a bundle with Hulu with Live TV, is no longer a separate line item. Additionally, Paramount Plus, the exclusive home of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, has been cut entirely.

“Peacock Premium is next,” Cecil insisted while putting the finishing touches on a newsletter post about the continued subscription. “I’ll definitely cancel it before they charge me for next month.”

I think I'm still getting Peacock Premium (plus?) for free from my crappy Comcast Internet deal? Now you have me second guessing myself. Could I actually be paying for it too? I think the only thing I used it for was binge watching the excellent Saved By The Bell Reboot.
