Day Soda has lost its fizz

Paid-only content on Night Water is over

Welcome back to Day Soda, the only paid Night Water newsletter that has ended. As you’ve probably noticed, Night Water has been quiet since last summer. I had some major life changes that led to me slowing down my weekly writing schedule, then pausing it altogether. In the time that I did had, I started up a small audio company, Local Files Club. I had every intention of coming back and writing some Day Soda exclusive newsletters—I even documented a graffiti artist in my neighborhood over the course of several weeks for an article—but it always slipped to the bottom of the “to-do pile.”

It didn’t make sense to charge people for content that wasn’t coming, and I wanted to resolve that before a bunch of annual subscriptions came up for renewal later this month. I could have just given everyone free credits for a year and kicked the can down the road. But I’ve decided to rip the band-aid off and retire Day Soda.

I’ll explain more why below, but here’s an AI (Adam Intelligence) generated summary of the changes:

  • As of February 13, all Day Soda subscriptions have been cancelled. Subscriptions will run through the end of their existing period and then end, and there will be no more charges.
  • The Day Soda tier has been archived, and it is no longer possible to become a new Day Soda subscriber.
  • At some point later this year, Day Soda articles will be switched to “members only,” meaning that all signed in members will be able to read them.
